Multilingualism is an intellectual strength that fosters local and global perspectives. Classroom use of theatrical techniques has been shown to augment key components of language learning-speaking, listening, reading and writing. This case study documents and analyses how innovative instructional strategies can further bilingual students' language acquisition. During a five month period, the university researcher provided several arts-integration learning experiences - retelling stories, character portrayals, sequencing of events, responding with fluency to classmates - to stimulate language development. Through the integration of theatrical-based pedagogies, emergent bilingual learners advanced their academic achievement.
