Digital interactive media has become prevalent and has been widely applied in educational and industrial circles. Interactive media has brought great influence and expectations to the concept of “combining education and entertainment” in art education. Interaction emphasizes the audiences’ operation and independent exploration, allowing them to understand and appreciate the history, culture, and social background or artistic creation through games in order to further recognize the beauty of the forms and the artists’ intention, enhance the aesthetic experience, and even participate in the creation. Proper use of interactive media can enhance the aesthetic experience. However, how to apply it appropriately, as well as how to develop user friendly interactive design allowing the audience to easily and enjoyably interact with the authors and perceive the aesthetic experience are the two questions to be explored in this paper.
This paper shares the author’s recent experience of viewing the two art exhibitions-“River of Wisdom: Moving of the Riverside Scene at the Ching-ming Festival” and “Landscape Reunited-Huang Gongwang and Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains”-and then reflects on and offers suggestions for the application of interactive technology for art appreciation from the perspective of an art educator.
