Iznik is a very important production centre in Anatolian and “chini” art history. Production of chinis with fantastic decoration and original techniques between 14th and 17th centuries makes Iznik chinis unique.
This unique heritage is now followed by Iznik Training and Education Foundation, which was established in 1993 to revive the art of Iznik tiles and ceramics and to introduce cultural and artistic values of Iznik chini art to next generations systematically as well as universities.
The purpose of this study is to teach this cultural heritage to Fashion Design freshmen and enlarge their vision to use this pattern diversity in new designs with an up-to-date perspective.
