Art is undeniably interrelated with developing technology, new economic structures and political and cultural extensions in today’s world. Therefore, modern education requires that it is essential to include the dynamics of the modern world in art education as well in order to increase the quality of education and have creative individuals for the future in the field. In this respect, the effective adoption of the new approaches and methodologies today in art education at education faculties highly depends on innovations and the availability of knowledge. Today, it is observed that the Painting Teaching Departments at Education Faculties mainly adopt traditional education methods. Based on this observation, this study aims at obtaining data regarding the opinions of students attending Painting Teaching Department at Education Faculty at Anadolu University about contemporary art. The study also tries to develop awareness about contemporary art by giving them the opportunity to create art within the framework of contemporary art.
The subject of the study will be the fourth year students of Painting Teaching Department of Education Faculty at Anadolu University and the result obtained will be discussed with the audience in detail.

A.Dilek Kiratli currently holds a position as assistant professor in Department of Fine Arts Education at the Anadolu University, Turkey. She obtained a Arts and Crafts Education degree from Anadolu University in Turkey, and also a PhD in Anadolu University Institute of Social Sciences in Turkey (2005). Her broad research interests span the Arts Education, and she opened an 3 individual exhibitions and more than 60 joint exhibitions. In addition to these, she jointed 7 International Congresses.
